Budget - Mental health Empty Budget - Mental health

Post by Guest Fri May 21, 2010 4:31 am

Some good news and bad news in the budget yesterday. National has allocated an extra 40 million for mental health spending over the next four years. The bad news is that 12 million of this is comming from current initiatives.

I emailed Ruth Dyson last night to see if she knew were the 12 million was comming from and she replyed that the budget did not go into that. She thinks it is comming of unspent money, so the 12 million is not actually a funding increase but a repioritiseing of existing funding.

Hi Roswell

Check out Pegasus Health. They are recruiting for Mental Health Professionals to work in GPs practices to support existing Practice Nurses with First Point of Entry clients.

Saves you from being thrown to the wolves at Mental Health Services if you can be properly assessed and treated by your GP if you have mild to moderate symptoms.

I think this can only be a positive move as many of us are afraid of landing up in these places.
