“Detailed street views of Christchurch's quake-damaged central city have been released today.
Terralink's StreetCam vehicle took images of every accessible street in the red zone over April 7 and 8.
The StreetCam was fitted with six high-resolution video cameras, able to capture high resolution imagery and data at street level.
Every accessible area within the red zone was driven in both directions, allowing viewers to "walk or drive" down each street in either direction using the website's navigation tools.
Viewers can also click on individual images to zoom-in on specific areas of interest.
Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority interim chief executive John Ombler said the footage would help people to understand what had happened in the central city.
"Only a small number of people have been inside this area since February 22 and these images are another way of helping everyone to see back into the heart of their city."
Ombler said it was important for people to see as much as possible to help them think about how they want their central city to be redeveloped.
A 'Share an Idea Community Expo' will be held at CBS Canterbury Arena this weekend to allow Christchurch residents to get involved in the rebuilding process.
Ends.”
Sobering stuff. Take extra special care, You Lot there in and around Christchurch, eh. Each and every one of you – known or unknown to me personally.
Paddy.
