Paddy I found it!!!
I was so excited when I saw it, I couldn't believe my eyes!!!
I know this is not exactly depression related, but I was so over joyed I just had to share..
Yes I did it!
I found golden syrup loaf. It's now in our local countdown. Brought it even. It is still in the car, waiting to be devoured at home.....

Re: Paddy I found it!!!
Well, Golden Syrup Loaf, eh? I hope that you remembered to buy Butter, cos its nice without, but bloody nice with - with lashing of butter. And no prissy little delicate slices - ya needs a decent sized lump of it.
And, who said everything (or anything) here has to be depression related, eh? Not me, not even TBT.
Enjoy, eh? I'm sure ya will
Maybe since this a Countdown loaf, and I only know New World loaves you should send me a couple of them so that I can analyse them and rate them against the New World ones? Ah well, worth the try, pffft.
Paddy.

Re: Paddy I found it!!!
The efficaciousness of Golden Syrup Loaf has been known for almost 2,723 years (in August) as far as my limited research tells me, though I have reason to suspect that it was known to the Phoenicians even earlier but under a different name.
Since I can’t speak like a Phoenixa, I can’t master the pronunciation of it, but its sounds like (Phonetically speaking – sorry, I couldn’t resist that pun) Yuuuuuuuuumkake.
One of the many benefits known is a reshaping of the hips, buttocks and thighs which has for millennia kept belt and garment makers in employment.
In science, the formula is I believe shown as:
N = ( . ) + GSL taken daily = T + FG = ((( . )))
(where N is Now; T = Time; FG = Fat Globules) & ((( . ))) = should be self evident. Or it will be to anyone walking behind ya anyway.
It has an greater specific gravity than does Shortbread, as evidenced by the fact that Shortbread tends to hang around the waist, whereas GSL settles lower down a persons body.
It is also considered, but not yet proved to the full satisfaction of modern science that a Golden Syrup Loaf also assists one in developing an sense of humour. I am one of an dedicated team of volunteers engaged in ‘Blind Testing’ under carefully controlled conditions – I close me eyes, and cut off a chunk. Bigger is better. For GSL anyway.
Try some GSL Ros and you too, may become an consumer advocate for it.
Hint. It’s especially nice with lashings of Butter.
Mylife, enjoy it hon.
Remember too, its not necessarily made to be shared - its a selfish loaf is GSL and it can insist that the owner eats it all despite ones best intentions.
Paddy.

Re: Paddy I found it!!!
I don't suppose there is much chance of getting away with imposing, as of Now, a 10% Tithe on all GSLs you lot get?
I don't want the money;
I want 10% of ya Loaf, cor yummy. Plus GST. And Carbon Tax, Postage, eco - Packaging and the recycling thereof. All of it, pffft.
Good on ya's, those who have had a smile in this Thread - its all Mylifes fault, she started it.

Re: Paddy I found it!!!
Britey,
Nice to know you've been here with us again, my friend. Ya been missed, sigh.
Hey, AS-IF.
Would I lead You up the garden path over Comfort Food?
Ohhhh No.
If anything, we are being under-generous in our praise of GSL.
Paddy.
P.S.
Britey - I see the price of me milk has gone up in the supermarket - I do hope you manage to grab a share of that increase hon - you guys deserve it, not the suits in the factory HQ etc.

Re: Paddy I found it!!!
Etiquette and Golden Syrup Loaf.
I was only looking at it, honest.
I had no intention of um, yeah, and anyway, I managed to save from myself, a little over half the loaf. I’ve told it to stop gloating at its survival, the night ain’t over yet!
But, thing is I got it for visitors tomorrow morning. Not for moi, tonight. Hmmm. Quite a dilemma, I agree.
Is it ‘Done’ to put out on a plate, just half a Golden Syrup Loaf and hope the visitors are too polite to mention some is missing? Quite a big 'some' at that.
Or, is it much better all round, for me just to scoff the lot tonight and keep quiet about it?
Thanks,
Paddy

Two more converts to the Golden Syrup Loaf League - I knew they'd like it, or what little was left of that loaf when they arrived.
GSL hits the spot other spot hitters, miss.
