Re: First time on meds
The only side effects i've had is excessive yawning, my eyes are tired and droppy. I also have the shakes a bit..
Question..Has anyone noticed that if they keeping yawning they want to gag?

Re: First time on meds

Re: First time on meds
Nah, it's not mucus in my throat. It feels like since I'm yawning, my body thinks there is something wrong and it's trying to get it out maybe...as in gaging will get it out.
Because I keep clenching my jaw (the part below my chin but above my neck) it starting to hurt...

Re: First time on meds
I take citalopram & find it quite good (it's the 4th anti-depressant i've tried, lol). I have zopiclone too, for when i need it. Everyone's different but those two meds seem to have a good reputation, so to speak. As for the gagging, i'm not sure about that. But i do find that sometimes i get a sore jaw depending on how i've slept or how deep my sleep's been, it seems i clench my jaw in my sleep at times. Sometimes, whether you're awake or asleep, a clenched jaw can be because of anxiety or stress, so i second mylife's suggestion of relaxation techniques. You could try purposefully relaxing your jaw & doing some deep breathing. Search the 'net for different techniques, there should be plenty that will help with easing stress/anxiety & you might be able to find some that help with trying to get to sleep. I've been practicing relaxation & meditation lately and it's helping a bit. It takes practice, but it's worth it. Good Luck.

Re: First time on meds
I was on citalopram and I found it made me tired all the time, despite the amount of sleep I got.. grr
For the first week or so I felt really sick too, I didnt even like the sound or smell of food (which is odd for me!) but it does sound like one of the better ones out there.

Yea that sounds about right, your hunger will slowly come back in a week or so. And despite that and the tiredness stick too them because they do work and you will feel better about everything

Re: First time on meds
I'm slowly getting my appetite back, thank goodness. My friend doesn't want me to loose any more weight.

Re: First time on meds
I have stopped taking the citalopram and the zopiclone after the night at the hospital...that night gave me a huge wake up call and everyone says i was just a silly girl who was bored...not someone who is depressed...it's quite confusing right now..but i suppose they're right. I act how people think I should act. If I say I could be depressed, then I become obsessed with it all and then I change...sigh..
For example, when I was at school I did food and nutrition, then I became obsessed with food and what's good and bad..then was afraid to eat some things..
Also I did an assignment on anorexia and bulimia, and became obsessed with them as well..
so who knows what i'm really like. I'm a sponge who soaks up things people say and things i read...then I become obsessed with it all....sad aye..

Re: First time on meds
I was on them for about 1 week ago, then went off them, but am now back on the anti depressant..
with the zopiclone, I have been having them most nights, which has been great because I don't end up thinking for hours...it just lets me sleep!.
the first night, I went to bed at about 9.30 and woke up at about 2am, and couldn't get back to sleep, but now i can sleep without any trouble, I sometimes wake up in the wee hours but fall back asleep. In the morning though i'm still quite shattered though. Then working full time has it's toll on me because the can both cause drowsiness ( i'm pretty sure)
