Family and Community Services (FACS) is part of the Ministry of Social Development. Looking for support for you and your family? The National Directory lists organisations in your area that can help.
Note: The Big Black Dog Message Board is now listed on this site. How cool is that?

(Thanks to MSD for listing us and for permission to Link to this useful informational site.)

Re: Useful Emergency Contacts
not really an emergency contact as such but would like to share my site.
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/nz_endo/
It's a support group for women suffering a condition called endometriosis, started pretty much for the same reason as thebigblackdog - total frustration at our trademe thread being removed repeatedly.

Looks a bit dodgy cos it has been usurped a few times and is a US site, also lots of ads. Seems to push medication a lot BUT I found the attitude of the creator (Jerod Poore ) aligned with my sense of humour. Fairly dry but informative and sympathetic. Check out links to Jerods' T-shirts.

Oz based site that is mainstream info about M illness, but includes opportunities to participate in research. I did online writing study that was interesting. There are others for CBT etc.
Sorry I realise these are not Emergency contacts. Apologies, hope they can be useful anyway.

Re: Useful Emergency Contacts
Please don't apologise for giving us tips n hints on useful sites, Attica.
The more information we have available to us, hopefully, the easier survival and personal growth will be.
So, thanks for telling us about those sites.

Re: Useful Emergency Contacts
Not really an emergency contact but useful for anyone looking for councellors in christchurch. I know a few people who attend petersgate and find them really good. Their fees are also income based, the lower your income, the lower your fees. They also have some useful links on their homepage.
http://www.petersgate.org.nz/index.htm
Also i have seen a councellor at relationship services and found them good as well, although they are slightly on the dearer side.
