UN Report
The UN has released it Human Rights Report on New Zealand for the period 2003 - 2007. There was a list of 16 concerns includeing:
- Insufficient numbers of prisons to cope with forecast growth, and also inadequate mental health facilities.
- Allegations of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment against children and patients in psychiatric hospitals were not being investigated and perpetrators not prosecuted.

I wonder if thats mental health facilities in prison, or just in the general population. Though we probably fall short in both.

Mental health facilities inside are primative at best which is highly concerning given the increase in the numbers of people inside with mental health issues since deinstutalisation.
