The Big White Wall
Hello everybody,
Last Friday (2 Nov 2012) Radio NZ announced the launch of a new online mental health network by The Auckland District Health Board called The Big White Wall.
Here's a link to the announcement: http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/national/119782/health-board-launches-online-mental-health-network
Here's a link to the site: https://www.bigwhitewall.com/
Despite the site being very UK focused, I have just joined it and even managed to send a message to a clinical psychiatrist about my needs.
It looks fairly worthwhile. Perhaps some TBBD people might find it worthwhile.

Re: The Big White Wall
Hi aidenrock,
Thanks for your post.
Quite frankly I'm disappointed with the lack of interest in the Big White Wall (BWW). I thought, with all the money the Auckland District Health Board put into the forum and its renowned success, lots of Aucklanders would be joining up. I jumped straight in boots and all thinking that it would be similar to TBBG except a lot more active because of its many subscribers. However, after giving it a go and looking more closely at the posts, it's effectiveness seems to be diminished mainly due to so many people using is as yet another social network forum. There were a few people there who made the effort to post on my "bricks" (aka topics) but either they didn't to want to seriously engage in the topic or suspected me of having ulterior motives. As mentioned in the Radio NZ article, the one thing the BWW has that TBBD doesn't have and that is it being closely monitored by trained counsellors. They respond to every new post in a welcoming and supportive manner which reduces feelings of loneliness and isolation. They also reply to direct questions and don't just ignore you.
Judging from your poor English and being located in Pune, presumably India, you haven't actually joined the BWW. If I am wrong and you have then I'm interested in hearing more about what you think of it particularly in contrast to TBBD. Either way, seeing TBBD is specifically a peer group support forum for people who are suffering from depression, how about telling me a little about your depression. You might also like to mention how depression in generally is affecting society in your part of the world.
