Thoughts with you all, also with all the rescue staff and the hard task they have ahead of them.

If there is anything I can do in the way of care packages or goodies that I can send down that you need please PM me.

Hang in there

I know this sounds selfish..especially with I statements But...I am weeping on and off when I see people rescued.. or the look on rescue workers faces, searching through rubble, knowing there are people trapped.

It looks like a war zone, it feels like a war zone. I wish media would report.... not... make up or pump up drama... when there is so much seriousness to the situation (can't explain without it sounding controversial) I don't mean any harm.

Please if there is anyone that needs help, please PM me and I will do my best to help, and as well reach out to support groups here (Networks), and see how 'we' can help.

Arohanui to all.

(Sorry if I sound selfish, I needed to put tears here)

Poetry that's not selfish at all.

I agree with you on the media, what some of them have been doing has been sickening, looking at you Tv3.

Present and correct if a bit stunned.

So scared I want to cry, admissions into hospital coming thick and fast, colleagues being utterly fantastic, lots of them making plans to move to
Australia though it seems.

Though they seem to be doing the hard yards as well.

I pray for those left homeless and destitute in this cruel mess.

Love to you all and thanks for your kind words and thoughts.

btw I am not sure if Woppow has posted here or not recently.

She is fine. Was living in a flat in the middle of Christchurch, but has now moved back home with her Mother due to damage.

Thank god she is alive,

Thank god so many are alive.

Sadness and condolences to all that have lost ..

What great strength this country has - both South and North

There is a term I never thought I would live to hear in respect of Aotearoa New Zealand, and that is some of its citizens being referred to as 'Refugees'.

Refugees were always somewhere else in our world and now, they are Us.

For those of us not in Christchurch, there but for the grace of God etc ...

Gentle care, You Lot, k.

Paddy you will be saddened to hear (as an Op Shop) fan that all of the shops in the new brighton shopping area is gone.

Everyone ran away and there is no more.

People are abandoning their already mortgaged houses and leaving wholesale.

Thousands of people have just upped sticks and left and the Emergency workers are having to assess everyone's safety so it is hard on them.

The wonderful gorgeous adonis like firemen have been coming around the 'burbs' just asking if we are all ok from door to door because of all the
burst mains pipes and they are all wonderful but its hard on the Emergency Services cos some folks have just lit out.

Gabbling I know but its just so eerily quiet.

Martinexx Please folks if you pray please include Christchurch.

Hi from Christchurch.
I have been blessed in the last week or so as firstly, my beautiful grandaughter was born on the 21st of Feb and I was given the privilige of being at her birth at their home. Mum seriously declined and was in a very bad way for a while. I thought my heart would break when my son relived how the happiest day of his life nearly became the worst... Mum has made a full recovery - Then the next day the earthquake hit... Again we were blessed that none of our loved ones were hurt or lost their homes. Because we had power and water in our home our new little family moved in with us for several days and I cannot describe how wonderful it was to have my newborn grandaughter, my son and daughter in law under my roof for this time - knowing they were all safe, our wee angels presence helping to heal with the stress we have all had to endure.
They have all gone home, the house seems empty but I have wonderful memories and lots..and lots.. of photo's. There is no silver lining to this horrible earthquake but without it I would never have got that quality time.
I find I cannot always watch the news about the after effects - it is too sad and hard..
Yes there are wonderful good stories to come out of this but there are sad ones... loved ones lost, people looting, drink driving and acting out badly..
Most of us are decent, hard working people who just want to get on and get past this second disaster, hearing and seeing the scum who crawl out and get into the media is very sad.
The help and love we have got from all around NZ and other countries makes you feel a warm glow so thank you.

Quake-hit residents fear winter's icy freeze

http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/christchurch-earthquake/4762714/Quake-hit-residents-fear-winters-icy-freeze

By LOIS CAIRNS Last updated 05:00 13/03/2011

Excerpt:
“As night-time temperatures drop dramatically in Christchurch, concern is growing that residents will freeze in winter because quake damage means they can't use their fires or heat their homes.

Even before last month's devastating quake there were concerns at how some people would get through the winter because the September quake had damaged around 32,000 chimneys, and left many people without any means of heating.

Now the situation is even worse, and with temperatures already in single figures at night, the pressure is mounting on the authorities to get alternative heating installed in quake-damaged homes.

Under an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority scheme set up after September's quake, people whose chimneys were damaged could choose to replace their old log burners or open fires with a new, clean and efficient heating system, with the cost covered under their claim to the Earthquake Commission…”

And hey You Lot, I do hope that none of you go cold this winter at home ‘cos it won’t help ya health even a little bit.

Paddy.

It's plenty cold here now Paddy. I got my little heater going hard out. ChCh is slushy, cold and shakes way to much. We had heaps lastnight and today a few as well. Sometimes a bang, sometimes like thunder, and others a gentle roll with creaking boards from stressed joints. Lastnights big one was like a fast vibration as if someone was shaking the house as one could a china cabinet. I still haven't picked up the dvds, been there since febs 6.3. Smile

Any Christchurch types want to gather for lunch one day in August?

There will be a guest of honour there and pets welcome?

I think it would be a mentally healthy thing to do, scouting any nice cafes

that are still standing. I have seen the "Persian Tearoom" is now open for

business again.

Love Martine
