the bloody red baron.....look out....
Its all over the news, in the school newsletters, its coming at us from all directions.....ahhhh, bugger, christmas is bearing down with an all too familiar scary feeling.
No getting away from the busier shops, the huge feeling of pressure of expectations that cant always be delivered.
it can be a hard, sad, or lonely time of year for many people, for many reasons.
Snoopy's Christmas
The news had come out in the First World War
The bloody Red Baron was flying once more
The Allied command ignored all of its men
And called on Snoopy to do it again.
Twas the night before Christmas, 40 below
When Snoopy went up in search of his foe
He spied the Red Baron, fiercely they fought
With ice on his wings Snoopy knew he was caught.
Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ring out from the land
Asking peace of all the world
And good will to man
The Baron had Snoopy dead in his sights
He reached for the trigger to pull it up tight
Why he didn't shoot, well, we'll never know
Or was it the bells from the village below.
Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ringing through the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to man
The Baron made Snoopy fly to the Rhine
And forced him to land behind the enemy lines
Snoopy was certain that this was the end
When the Baron cried out, "Merry Christmas, my friend"
The Baron then offered a holiday toast
And Snoopy, our hero, saluted his host
And then with a roar they were both on their way
Each knowing they'd meet on some other day.

Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to man

Re: the bloody red baron.....look out....
I like Christmas day itself mostly because it's the only time I get to meet with relatives I probably haven't seen since last Christmas. But, I could really do without all the commercialization that comes with it.

Re: the bloody red baron.....look out....
ME TOO!!
but at least we dont have to travel far. it will be at my aunties this year and thats at least in the same town.
I was trying to come up with a way to say to people to buy themselves a gift, and not buy me one.. that way they get what they want, and I dont get given rubbish. ( Um I think that last part was where the plan fell apart.)

This Christmas I will actually permit myself to look forward to it instead of dreading it.
Just for a change, maybe if I turn my head around it, it might be an improvement on last Christmas.

Re: the bloody red baron.....look out....
Martine, Good On Ya, that is a very positive post.
I have it on good advise that yes, this Christmas will be quite unlike the last one.
This is meant to be a surprise for you, but I happen to know that your Good Man has booked you and he (and not only booked, but secured a Window Seat overlooking the #4 refueling bunkers) a special Xmas Luncheon with the NZ Tail Numbers Twitchers Assn to be held in the International Terminal at Harewood.
There will be Notebooks and cameras and binocular and grubby dog-eared copies of Janes Everymans Guide to Civil Aviation, everywhere. Cor.
I envy you, I really do. I can think of few better, more satisfying things than relogging a Tail Number for the 12th time (that day).
Paddy.

Oh my God that's what I was afraid of Paddy.
Better see the Doc for more Lorazepam so I can tranquilise myself over the "festive" period.
