Zopilcone Users Question for you
Hey guys,
I had to up my Zoipiclone meds to 2 a night instead of the 1 he prescribed me as I didnt get to sleep on the 1. He seems to think that 2 don't work but I find they
My doctor said to me If I keep taking 2 pill he will send me back to mental health services which I dont want to do over something so small.
I hope you all don't mind me asking but how many pill do you take.
Thanks
Mrs Hunt

Re: Zopilcone Users Question for you
I use to take two. Just be careful with zopis, they are addicitve and meant as a short erm fix. I have recently started on serquol to help me sleep.

Mrs Hunt,
Zopiclone, eh? I just might be the resident 'expert' on Zopiclone, having been prescribed them every night since mid 2006.
Addictive? I can't answer for that aspect of them - I have yet to notice a problem with that - some nights I take one, some nights I take one and a half, some nights I take two, but lotsa nights, I take none.
Not 'cos I'm worried about being addicted, but because I have a lot of physical pain from spinal injuries etc and ya just know if its going to be a 'sleep' night or not. If it ain't, why waste the pills?
Provided that you and your GP are sharing info and you're talking and he or she is listening, I don't personally see any harm in occasionally taking two Zopiclone because sometimes, we really may need that quantity to get us back into the sleep habit.
I think your GP is being a bit of a wally meself - and I suspect that your local MH Services won't be too concerned at short term use of prescribed meds to get you to sleep. Its a sucky threat, but I'd not worry too much about it Mrs. H. You might just find they are on your side.
I stress more if I can't have my three mugs of hot milk a night, rather than a zoppi or two, truely. I do like me Milk - well over 2 Litres a day and it doesn't come on prescription either, sadly.
Yep, some folk must have addiction problems but I suspect that they might have similar issues with lots of meds not just Zops.
That is what should concern a GP, not a very short term use. Its not like ya can get them from the corner store - the doctor has to prescribe them and if he's truely worried, one would think that as a start, he would cease prescribing.
Paddy.

Dear Mrs Hunty
I take two regularly sometimes 3 if I just want to bomb out for a while to dodge the crap feelings which sometimes overwhelm me.
My GP and psychiatrist and pharmacist are all in on it and shake their heads but realise tis better than the other insomniac depressed thing.
Good luck and take yer pills we're all of us addicted to something or t'other least its not sex with us lot.

Re: Zopilcone Users Question for you
the referral only got recieved on Tuesday this week but I did manage to talk to my MHS dr last week and she changed my script, she said that what my gp said was completly wrong and 1 pill does not do the same as two pills. I have a appt at the end of aug to go throu everything and see what they can do to work this problem out. So Im slowly getting back to my old self.

Re: Zopilcone Users Question for you
Hi
I am addicted to zoplicone, I've been taking them since I was 15. I am now 24. The pyschiatrist has tried to get me off them but I always resist. I feel like they are helping me sleep they're like my security blanket. I'm probably gonna be on it for the rest of my life. I don't mind but maybe when I get a job and get a routine I might not need them anymore. But rarely I do miss a night if I am really tired or if I have gone out to town and get home late, there is no point taking zoplicone. It says not to drink alcohol with it but I drink alcohol maybe once a month.
Hope everybody is doing well.

Re: Zopilcone Users Question for you
Dear Bluey
Hi me too. I take up to three a night. You know what your psychiatrist is right its a crap drug, and prolly isn't working for you anymore, but until something better comes up which does encourage you to sleep and helps you to wake up refreshed then you will prolly be better sticking with it.
I have noticed that some of the docs are prescribing Phenergan 10mg up to 50 mgs which is a phenothiazine for the purposes of antihistamine but it does make you very very drowzy. Hope this helps

Re: Zopilcone Users Question for you
Hi mrshuntly
I took Zoplicon for about 3 years and recently changed to 2 -3 temazepam 10mg tablets. These can be taken with quetiapine at night to help you sleep. Maybe something that is helpful to discuss with your Dr... I also take a phenergan - but am finding when I do take phenergan I am very drowsy in the morning. I wanted off Zops because when I stopped smoking in May the taste - the metallic taste was terrible, I felt nauseous and food tasted gross.
hope this helps
