Hello Pink ..... First of all 'Happy Birthday' for last Sunday. Hope you enjoyed your mini holiday to Aus.

Unfortunately we don't all think the same way! (I would be hurt too, I might add) but just because your staff didn't go out of their way to celebrate your birthday, doesn't make you a bad manager!

It sounds like you're an organiser - some other people aren't.

But this has taught you that not everyone is as generous a person as you.

And that's a huge lesson, thank them inside your heart and your head

because you won't ever do this again for them the thankless wretches.

Happy Birthday to you, I hope you buy yourself a cake, put a candle in it

OMG.. I asked my boss if he had a birthday while he was away and he DID.., so I was able to wish him happy birthday after all... l thanks for this thread Pink. I wouldn't want him to think I didn't care.

Sorry to hear that the others that you work with did not celebrate and make an effort they way you do for
them.
Birthdays probably mean more to you than them and they are used to you making the efforts that you do so they don't think of doing this for you...mental I know!
The only advice I can give is for you to do what you want to do for them on their birthday but don't be expectant of them to do the same otherwise you will be hurt again in the future.
I hope next year is a better birthday for you.

That notion that you are always on the giving end and not the receiving end is probably true of most of us on this forum.

Other people's opinions, valuing people, being brought up to be good so that people will like you, as Paddy says PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!
