Is there any hope for us?
My beloved son age 44 suddenly became mad, practically over night, following several traumatic events in his life 10 years ago.
He already had a lot on his plate being in a wheelchair and partly blind from premature and oxygen starved birth .
But he had been coping not too badly living independently.
Now he is depressed violent and psychotic.
The medication he is taking (resperidone and levomepromazine) seem to lower the extremes of his behaviour but make him dull and zombylike.
He hates doctors; well he hates everything, present, past and imaginary.
It breaks my heart remembering what a brave and funny person he was.
He has never used illegal drugs tobacco or more than the drink at birthdays and Xmas
He didn't choose this by unhealthy living.
What options are there.for him? Are there natural remedies that we could try?
St Johns wart, vitamin b stress formula, sunlight, vitamin c multi vitamins have made not a jot of diference

Welcome to TBBD katydid ........... It sounds to me like your son and you have a lot to deal with .... wish I could be more helpful.
Like Poetry says 'from one Mum to another' ... I hope you find it helpful to come in here and just say whatever you need to - all better out than in.
Maybe someone else will have information to help you.
Take special care, Daze

Thankyou it helped
Funnily enough some kind words from total strangers has helped me.
Poor Robert is beyond help I fear.
The people from St Vincent de Paul brought us some groceries this morning. It's not the food which is welcome but the thought that helps us
Robert tells me he wants to move to Auckland and get a job. I told him I will try to contact some one who may know of somewhere for him to live.
He needs 24 hour care and he is not a pleasant person, full of anger and hate and quite violent at times. The drugs don't make him any nicer
