Job Interview

Hey guys,

I got a phone call this morning about the jobs I interviewed for a couple of weeks ago. I am now a advocate and start work on Friday .

I will be working 20 hours a week doing four five hour days and the other day I will have off to do misc and study.

Hows you and your Advocacy Role getting on mate? I hope that you remember to keep Time Out Time for you Ros, but other than that buddy, Take No Prisoners.

I'd say a hectic time might be upon us poor we beneficiaries and we're going to need all the help we can get, Thank You, National and Act Parties. We Shall, I Hope, Remember, next General Election.

The job is going well. I have attended appointments with Houseing NZ and Winz with a couple of clients and supported them there. I have gone out to various NGOs and given a wee speech about myself, Oasis (the org I work for) and my role there. We are going out to the psyc ward on Monday which will be interesting. Last time I went to a ward I picked up on some nasty vibes and felt uneasy so will see how I go.

I was reading up on the benefit changes last night and it will lead to a lot of work for me I think. Some of our clients are not in a place to be able to work 15 hours a week or attend training.

I have taken over the health and safety role at work and over the next month will ensure all the paperwork is up to date and current. I am looking forward to it.

Our manger is away for a month and for a couple of days I will be left in charge. When she gets back she wants to train me up as 2IC to cover any absences she has for meetings, training days etc.

As for looking after myself I had my first supervision session yesterday and covered some issues that have already arisen, namely handleing clients with suicidal thoughts which is a bit close to the bone for me. I got some good tips.
