Philosophy Empty Philosophy

Post by Guest Thu Feb 12, 2009 8:57 am

Hi all.
On the recommendation of one the members here I joined a night class of introductory philosophy. I'm doing it to hopefully learn a bit about myself, and in the world, and where I fit into it etc.

Just wondering if anyone else has studied philosophy before and how it might have helped them?

JK

Hey a great book to read is "Sophies World" by Jostein Gaarder.

I read it as part of a philosophy club I use to belong to. Sadly I made the mistake of lending it out.

It is good to challenge some of the basic assumptions and this book broaches the subject via the journey of Sophie and her interaction with an instructors.

It is an easy and enjoyable read.

Enjoy your studies
