The Circle is Complete Empty The Circle is Complete

Post by Paddy Fri Jun 05, 2009 10:40 am

In August last year, I asked my GP to try to arrange a Needs Assessment to help make a few things here in my rented flat, a bit easier and a bit more dignified, than they are.

My GP contacted the local DHB (as ya would) since it represents the Public Hospital System. Eventually, the DHB seems to have said 'Nah sorry, not us - try ACC.' Which I knew, wouldn't help. (Oh and in amongst all of that, was the Health and Disabilities Commission - what a waste of time).

Today, I get a 'cc' copy of a letter from ACC to the DHB saying 'Nah sorry, not us. You guys had better have a look at it, 'cos we ain't.' Or words very much to that effect. They don't seem to have sent a copy to my GP, so I have.

So now, someone (presumably the DHB) will contact my GP and say 'Nup, ACC ain't doing it.'

And my poor GP will then have to ask the DHB (again) 'Well, will youse fellas do it for us then, eh?' And who knows what the DHB will say to that? Or when it will say it?

Meantime, it is now 10 months after I first asked for help and I'm back right where I started. Round and round we go. Except that I am more sore now than I was 10 months ago, and less mobile.

My patience is starting to wear just a little bit thin in places, much like my hair.

I don't quite understand how it can be so very hard to get what should be a very simple thing - a Home Visit Needs Assessment by a person suitable qualifed, and whom is able to recommend some solutions to a few minor but important (to me) problems I'm having on a daily basis. Oh and of course, someone somewhere (maybe a DHB?) will have to meet the costs of those solutions.

I'm trying really hard not to take all of this too personally or to become too negative 'cos its only life, but I am starting to question why I bother.

PLEASE: I don't want any answers or sympathetic posts to this. Its my Fight, my Rant, my Vent. It is part of my safety mechanism and I'd just like to say this and leave it. Truely, a truck load of sympathy or empathy or whatever, would just about finish me at the moment. But I'll get there. Fuckem.

Thanks, I knew You'd understand.

Pat. scratch

good for you ranting, venting.
Not going to offer sympathy 'cause as you say it might be enough to tip you over the edge. I have been like that several times...so angry at whatever and just need to vent it out

or spew it out of the old system is another way of putting it.

Paddy, you are important to me, and to the rest of us here - just remember that.

Bloody beauracuarcy (sp?) is a right royal pain in the ass!!!!

Keep us posted as this is fricken poor.

I know that those of you who have posted in my Thread here mean well.

But I asked that no one post or make comments. And I asked for reasons that are right, for me. I didn't explain them, I should'n have to. It should be enough for other members that I asked.

I won't be posting updates. In fact, in respect of my disabilities and related things, I don't think I will be posting much at all of a personal nature here at TBBD for some time. All I sought was that which others can find here. A space to be heard. Not answered, just to be heard.

Nothing more, nothing less. I did not write the Post to find if people care. I wrote the Post because I needed to write it and then, to walk away from it for a few days or so. Thus, I chose a space on TBBD where its supposed to be OK to do that.

It might be a good time to revisit what I said as Admin when I set this Ventilation Chamber space up. If you have read this far, then please go a bit further and read whats there at
https://thebigblackdog.forumotion.net/the-ventilation-chamber-f8/about-the-ventilation-chamber-t455.htm

No, I'm not too worried if others here are upset by me and this latest post.

How do you think I feel? Oh, and that is an rhetorical question. Don't answer it. Or anything else in this Thread. Please.
