Re: Seroquel
Hi Ruby,
I got prescribed Seroquel on a "when needed" base. I could take it when I felt panicky/anxious, as well as taking it before I went to bed to help me fall asleep. The maximum I was allowed to take in one day was 3 or 4 tablets I think (and from memory each tablet was 25mg). I do not have bi-polar. My main label is Borderline Personality Disorder. I do struggle a lot with anxiety and depression, hence they prescribed me this drug.
I have to say, I only tried it once, and didn't like it. But if you give your body a chance to get used to the med, you should experience some benefit from it. It had a very sedative effect on me, but mostly on my muscles. I was still wide awake, but felt I wasn't in control of my body. I'd will myself to walk or get up, and it required so, so much effort to make my body listen to me. But apparently this can happen and as your body gets used to the drug this effect should lessen.
Stay in touch with your Doc as you start the med, and talk to him/her about any concerns you have as your body starts getting used Seroquel, would be my only advise.
Take care

Re: Seroquel
Hi im not bipolar I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and have been taking 200mg of seroquel for almost 8 months now. Im also taking Lyrica 150mg twice daily. They are both mood stabilizers and the seroquel helps me sleep at night.

Re: Seroquel
Seroquel can be great for anxiety! It just "takes the edges off". In higher doses it's good for sleep, and above 150mg it apparently has an antidepressant effect too! Doses over about 300mg are looking at treating bipolar disorder. But like many medications, it has lots of uses, so don't freak out too much at the bipolar stuff.

Seroquel dose
Hi, I'm bi-polar and was orinally prescribed 250 mg seroquel with the intent of taking me up to 400.
Not sure if I'm unusually sensitive to it but 250mg at night left me like a zombie till early afternoon the next day.
I discussed this with the quack and cut back, and back, and back, till I'm only taking half a tablet - 12.5 mg at night and I sleep fine and can wake up at 7.30 OK although it still takes one or two cups of coffee toi get me going.
So my message is - beware taking too much seroquel - it can make you into a zombie!

Re: Seroquel
Hello Guys i think that Seroquel is an a typical antipsychotic accepted for the therapy of schizophrenia, and in the XR edition along with an SSRI to cure significant despression symptoms. There are now several common editions of Seroquel, such as Quepin and Ketipinor. Thanks a lot!!

Re: Seroquel
I was prescribed seroquel in varying dosages up to 50 mg for sleep and depression. It had adverse affects for me such as suicidal thoughts and harmful actions. That said, these drugs affect everyone differently. it did work well for sleep but too well. I was knocked out for 10-12 hours, unfortunately I woke up ready for a long nap.

Re: Seroquel
i know this thread was a little while ago but thought id add to it... I take 700mgs a day of qutipine, in the begininng i was a zombie but not so much now ive been on it for a few years. my main dignosis is bpd and a bunch of other labels but i agree with snow white that it seeems to be the first drug they push. i was taking the max dose of ziprazidone with it until the drug afected my heart, once i discontinuded that egc went back to normal. how are you getting on ruby?
