Seeing as i'm not sleeping
for like the 5th night in a row. What am I going to do without the trademe message board to keep me entertained? It's unavailable from 2am till 5am cos they're doing work on it or something. Grrrr. Now i'm bored. The dogs just want to sleep *mutters* stupid dogs.

I don't know why I haven't been sleeping, it is getting really annoying though.

Re: Seeing as i'm not sleeping
Tis frustrating, innit MFIC?
A friend of mine down this way has a similar problem. Bah Humbug, he reckons! Not even sleeping meds beat whats left of his brain into submission for very long these days.
In fact, with your permission, I'll give me mate Yddap a link to this thread cos maybe you and he could keep in touch via emails or whatever and exchange sleep-tips and stuff?
Do you by any chance have an interest in Sticks? I just know that drift wood sticks are one of his interests. He's not keen on feathered critters, but he's quite keen on dogs - more so than on say, Bloody Tabbies anyway. So he says.
MFIC hon, I hope that sleep happens properly for you again real soon. Mmmwah,
Patrick.

Hi Everyone.. we were recommended to try magnesium recently to help with sleep (she says at 1.30am!) - it's available at supermarkets, health stores and pharmacies.. and the mix of magnesium, calcium and zinc is especially good.
Also, have a bath about an hour before bedtime, with a handful of Epsoms Salts (which has magnesium) dissolved in the water.. relax and lie down in the water, and keep the water warm.. the Epsoms Salts also cleanses the cells, a light de-tox..

Re: Seeing as i'm not sleeping
OK I don't sleep because I suffer terrible nightmares. Vivid, frightening experiences that when I waken I'm in tears and feel like I've been hit by a bus.
So I stay awake as much as I can and finally when I do fall asleep exhausted I wake up in tears etc etc after a terrible nightmare.
Someone I read about said these CD's the relaxing ones which help you to sleep work. Will try. Apparently a bloke called Rick Collingwood is the one to get.
Good luck on your nocturnal endeavours and we'll keep searching for the elusive dreamless sleep.

From what I've read Martine, some meds can contribute to very vivid and sometimes disturbing dreams. Is it possible that could relate to you?

Re: Seeing as i'm not sleeping
Dear Bluebird very likely, also the stress I feel trying to stave off sleep could be adding to the mix.
I also dream things that I wake up and its happened like the mentally unwell patient who escaped and killed someone. When I found that out today I was gutted.
I've been dreaming this for days that a patient of mine did such a thing.
I feel quite battered by this.

Re: Seeing as i'm not sleeping
If there is any chance this could be caused by your meds or exacerbated by your meds wouldn't it be wise to talk to your doc or team about it? After all what you are experiencing is hugely debilitating and if there is any way of curing it or at least lessening it wouldn't it be worth a try?

Re: Seeing as i'm not sleeping
Oh Martine how awful for you to be experiencing these dreams and then even more disturbing, that when you wake, what you fear has happened. Do you think that (if you have the cash to afford it) it would also be worthwhile to maybe go and see a sleep specialist or someone like that (I do know of someone in Christchurch, just let me know if you need his number)? Have you always suffered from nightmares? I'm just wondering if it could be a reaction to stress? I know that sounds simple but I'm just trying to think what may be the cause. Take care and hugs to you.
