Hi Angelique, First I need to say that I'm so glad you've found your way to the BBD site. You're amongst friends here who, through varied life experience, understand your stress.

So very sorry to hear what has happened to you - or more precisely, how help has not been very forthcoming (to say the least). Perhaps being on here and reading some of the posts will be helpful so you feel not so alone with your situation. Yes, violence is very high in New Zealand (unfortunately)

There's a chatroom at the bottom of the Home Page. People are in and out of there from time to time.

Hi Angelique, and I would like to second what Daze has said.

Sadly in NZ there are way too many people who are left to fall through the cracks, there are others here who have also been massively let down by the system. It is also very very hard to find all the places and organisations which are operating to help people in need.

We have no instant fixes here, but we do have an abundant supply of support and friendship.

Hope to catch up with you later,

Hi Angelique, I don't know where you live, but is there another Doctor you could check-in with - or change to. And is there a Women's Centre near you? sometimes they have some great support available (I used to work at one).

I, like you, ran away from a bad relationship and to make a point, years ago now - don't think there were refuges then. My husband went off to work and when he came home we (me and two children) were gone. Took him ages to find where I was (long story).

Anyway, I'm glad you find it helpful here - and surprisingly anger can give the energy to move forward or seek out help! Not easy I know, and I also know you've done your best and met some brick walls.

Hugs for you, .......... Daze

How can they stop you going to your appointment? I think you should talk to your union as, in my understanding, they need to support you with your mental health.

You definitely need to get hold of your union. What they are doing is NOT RIGHT. I am often for the employer as I often think they get a bad rap but on this occassion YOU are definitely being unfairly treated.

Put in writing why you can't attend the meeting and also document when and what you verbally told them about your reason both in your diary and in your letter to them.

That is a responsible position and you should be supported in doing your job. You obviously can't with the way things are at the moment. Get in touch with your union, they are not looking after you properly.
