Re: Is anyone so afraid...
Hey ya, yip thats me too! I remember when i started my job the boss told me i could work flexible hours but i was still TERRIFIED to leave earlier then everyone else! I was going on holiday once and waited MONTHS before i asked if i could have time off which only stressed me out more because it was getting so close to fly time that i thought they would say NO!
So yeah im a total wimp and get scared, intimidated and NERVOUS all the time! Im the same at even making phone calls!!
Just practise what you want to say, over and over again, and try and get a feel for when the right time to ask is!

Re: Is anyone so afraid...
It's still having to talk to them about it- I freeze up- I'm afraid they will say no and all confidence (the little that I have) will get lost.

Re: Is anyone so afraid...
OH hey there is no shame in stuttering or freezing up! I do it ALL the time but only when i absolutely have to talk to someone i dont want to. If you need time off then you got to do it!
I am not good for advice but if you see the chance to ask them take it. Just go okay nows the moment, i wanna hurry up and get it over with so i can relax, no matter what their decision is, at least i will be free from stressing over this! LOL. (Ok my way of thinking is totally nuts)
Once you have started with the "umm is it possible if i was about take leave from work" Just carry on your confidence will grow as you go on!
And my favourite have a back up plan! (If it doesnt go well, make sure your ready to comfort yourself with lots of VENTING! But good venting. Or a reward to think about. Sounds stupid. But thats the only way i can reason with myself to make myself be brave enough to talk to the boss. Talk to yourself over and over again with really postitive stuff. Try and say it casually? Dont use too many words, if they are yes no people then you will get answer straight away.
I hope you get it sorted soon, i know how you feel and its horrible. Good luck qwerky. I have rread some of your other posts and yip ive been in jobs that other people would be better suited for and i cant for the life of me figure out why they hired me. Well teh fact is they did hire you, they thought you were good enough. So you must be.

Re: Is anyone so afraid...
It would make me feel silly becasuse they're the type of person to say, "you caoulf have just asked em, we sit next to each other"..then making me feel stupid, you know...

Do you guys not have holiday/leave application forms at work? Both my current and past employers had these, just take one, full it out and give it back to manager or whoever you are meant to or put it in there in-tray

well, i hate to say this but there is only one thing you can do. face the boss and tell them. there doesn't seem to be anyother way around it.

I'm only getting 2 days off. but its before the weekend, so it will be 4 days..I'm looking forward to it. I never really look foward to things these days because I never do anything to begin with, so I guess it is my fault to begin with.
