where i am at

Post by Guest on Wed Apr 29, 2009 11:18 am

I am really struggleing with low grade depression. I have had weeks of no motivation or energy; I am also not sleeping properly and it is affecting study and my life.

I have missed a few lectures cos I have not been able to get up and going in the mornings. I was just on line and realised I have a short online test due on Friday that I am not prepared for. I have another short test on Monday which I have not done the readings for (eight chapters). I have also got an extension for an essay and I just can not seem to get into it.

The scary thing is I am even contemplateing just giving up on my studies, this from an acedemic!

I have a pile of work to do as well (minutes to type up, phamphlet insert to draft, phamphlet to finshing drafting (nearly done) and research to do) and it is just sitting on my desk.

I got off my arse tonight and got a few small tasks done, one of them being to look at getting contents insurance now I am flatting. As some of you know I have a conviction resulting from an incident during my major relapse and I can't get insurance it seems.

God why do I even bother?

As for insurance - can you list your valuables with a flatmate who has contents insurance???? Just an idea.

Hmmm I did something and erased my message...doh so here it is again..

Right Roz, lets get something straight...[quote]YOUR WORTH BOTHERING ABOUT[quote]

You bother because you are worth it. Your support on this site has proven that.. Surprised

You are

* Great
* Empathetic
* Humourous
* smart
* a delight

I think that when we all place ourselves under to much stress we tip over the edge. A little or a moderate amount of stress is fine, but when that cup runs over and all of a sudden becomes a big damn that is when we snap.

Your a star in my books so don't be so hard on yourself!

I study counselling at psychology. I cant put my current papers on hold cos it so far through the semister. I have already dropped one paper at my cost.

The work I do is voluntary so they are pretty flexiable but a couple of projects need doing as they are rolling out the next phase of the pilot.

Dont know my flatmates well enough to do put my gear under their names.

Have a doc appoint later this morning. Did not sleep again last night and slept in this morning cos of it and missed a counselling appointment. I am so over it.

Hey,

Doc has defined it as cronic depression as I have had it for the last month. I a scale of 1 - 10 I have normally been sitting round a 3 or 4 nothing over a 5.

He said that there may be nothing med wise they can do about it and I just have to accept it. I have asked about changeing to effexor but he wont :-(.

I have got a med cert for uni to say my performance will have been affected for the last since early April and may last atleast the next four weeks.

I also had a shrink appointment yesterday and from some of the questions she asked I think she is worried I am going to do something.

Hi Ros,
I'm not to have any pearls of wisdom for you, only that I completely empathise for what you are going through. Uni puts such a big stressor on us, so much that it can be really overwhelming.

Motivation is something I have always struggled with. I seem to be in an ok with it currently. It feels so good to actually just get things done. Maybe just force yourself to do things even if you dont feel like it, and the more on top you get, the more you'll be likely to keep it up?

Your not alone Ros. I can relate to you so much. Hang in there.

I think we can all relate to what you are going through Roz, Jaffa, we have all been there at some stage..and some of us revisit this stage..time and time and time and time.
