mental institute
Hi I want to know AND YES it is a dumb question but then I am a dumb person.Continuing my question
How does one get committed to a mental institute where your're doped up on drugs all day and are as docile as a friendly cat.You wake up take your meds have breakfast and just veg out for the rest of the day
I do ask this question in all seriousness.I have anxiety and depression and panic attacks and although the medication i take is good at masking the unpleasant sensations and I have been proactive in therapy working really hard to over come the problems I have come to the conclusion that I would be better off in an institute where I'm heavily medicated and just don't care or FEEL much.Comfortably Numb.Or death. But that scares the crap out of me even though I know I will have to face it one day, so it will have to be the other.

Re: mental institute
Hi clonazuser. It definitely isn’t a dumb question. I actually asked that question to my psychiatrist a few years ago. My dream was to spend the rest of my days in a padded room taking the drugs that kept me detached from the world … from everything.
The thinking nowadays is not to have mental institutions like that anymore, but to have people stay in a specialised hospital for a short time (could be weeks) and then to get them back out into the community as quickly as possible, with out-patient care. When needed, the person (with the doctor’s or psyc emergency's referral) could be readmitted but then the goal is to get the person back living their lives in the community and getting better. Probably not what you wanted to hear. Wasn’t what I wanted to hear at that time.

Re: mental institute
nah ~ you don't want to go there ~ overrated ~ try taking fish oil tablets, vit B, and burning the fuck out of sage incense....it takes negative stuff away....if you can, garden a bit in the sunshine...its good for the soul and is a great thinking time and when it gets all to much go snuggle yourself into bed with a good book to lose yourself in, tuck yourself in when ever you feel you need it.....small steps...if you feel cold and numb take a hottie. xx

There are better solutions! Please inbox me and I we can discuss some things I found really helpful. I spent most of my life suffering from depression and sometimes just completely lost all hope. I can now honestly say that I am happy and love my life!

Re: mental institute
Well, you pretty much have to either have a major depressive episode, which used to be called a mental/nervous breakdown. Or go extremely Manic, if you are Bipolar or attempt suicide or be close to trying. And that only gets you into the Open Ward. Some Psychosis helps too.
But yeah, I don't recommend it if you can find a way to get through yourself. I only had a stay there because I could no longer cope mentally and was a risk to myself(suicidal)
