Totally at my wits end

Post by wanttobehappyagain on Thu Apr 26, 2012 6:39 am

Please help. I can't seem to tolerate ani anti depressants without major side affects. Managed to come off them and now taking L tryptophan which initally seemed to work well.

My main issue now is mood. I feel angry all the time. Anything upsets me and I'm at my wits end. I haven't felt 'right' since getting pregnant with my twins. I've tried lots of different meds and have gone to alternative doctors through to a naturopath. Recently went gluten free and quite frankly if this is my 'quality' of life, well I've simply had enough. I feel doctors just don't know what to do with me. I'm trying to take myself day by day but gah......

I certainly hear what you are saying and why but I'm not able to come up with any suggestions yet, sorry.

Is it totally necessary that you be totally gluten free from a health perspective or is it something you have agreed to try? Maybe that decision could be revisited by you maybe with a dietician recommended by a GP or a mental health group?

Day by day still works, but it sucks none the less, dunnit eh? You take extra gentle care of you please and keep making time available to come here and say how things really are because here you at least have a voice.

wanttobehappyagain,

Oh and as you mention twins, I thought I’d just quickly Google and see what offerings Rangiora might have.

With twins, have you thought of seeking information from a multiple-birth type organisation?

Multiple Birth Association
http://www.kiwifamilies.co.nz/articles/multiple-birth-association/

Christchurch Multiple Birth Club!
http://www.cmbc.co.nz/ (Hint – wear sunglasses when looking at their website.)

Plunket Clinic Rangiora
http://www.plunket.org.nz/plunket-near-you/?region=Canterbury&district=Waimakariri&suburb=Rangiora&service=
Are you and your children receiving all the Plunket assistance which might be available?

I see too that the Canterbury DHB has some info options for mums from the Christchurch Women’s Hospital. http://www.cdhb.govt.nz/cwh/support_groups/default.htm

There may well be other organisation with whom you can make contact if it ‘feels right’ and I hope that if any member reading your thread knows of more potential sources of opportunities for you and your family, I hope that they add them here.

Thanks for the suggestions. I actually belong to the MBC but it's more of a 'social' support. The GF thing has helped the 'fogginess' dissapear but man the mood! I felt like this when I was on efflaxor reluctantly years ago, came off and boy was human. Thought coming off it would fix the mood/irritability but it hasn't. Have enrolled for beginners yoga Thursday week. Hoping that will help a bit.

I could have written that first post WTBHA! I too am stuck with horrible side effects that I personally find intolerable, but my doc says the risk of me relapsing is too high, and seeing I didn't tolerate two others (citalopram and Nortrip) he won't change it.

Ironically enough, my mood has crashed, so now I have horrible side effects and ongoing depression. I'm not functioning well at work (am very close to going off work again, which for me is actually going to contribute to worsening of mood), my marriage is on the rocks, my friends are all alienated... and I'm feeling like I've had enough.

Don't know if I can help any, other than say hi, and you're not alone in feeling like this.
