new guy here

I've been with my gf 2 years and we're students. She's had depression for about 6 - 9 months and been on medication for about 2 - 3 months. The meds are enough that she can get out of bed etc, but she's not getting better, I don't think. She's always talking about how much she hates herself, and beats herself up for ages about little mistakes. Nothing I can say helps. I want her to have proper therapy - all she's wangled is group therapy from the university which is just a support group. I don't know how to get her something better.

Things are tough. I just want someone to tell ME that it's not hopeless. Any advice?

Its really hard when we feel bad about ourselves, and yes, we do blame and shit on ourselves for all that goes wrong around us as if its our fault....dont ask me why, possibly cos thats the message we were given growing up, and its very very hard to change a pattern laid down early.

I do the same. Just a little thing on a bad day, stuffs the rest of the day, and hangs on in my head. Its a misery for us, and everyone round us. Alll I can suggest, is try to balance out what she says is bad, and point out positives too.
