ExErCiSe
Apparently is good for people with depression ...it releases endo ...oh endomophines(?) which put you on a natural high!
Lets see if we can have a bit of competition between us to see who can complete the most amount of bouts of exercise, could be just a short walk, or a few sit ups..dunno, but lets try it for say, a week. It has to be at your level,
What do you think?

Re: ExErCiSe
When I yawn, I try to use both hands to cover my mouth.
Only one hand is really necessary, so does that count as exercise? 'Cos if it doesn't, then ooops it looks like I don't get much. I but do yawn a lot.

Re: ExErCiSe
A good measure of exercise is getting a pedometer. A person should aim for 10,000 steps per day.

Re: ExErCiSe
Yeah I do alot of yawning too...and re the pedometer...I have three, they are collecting dust just fine,

Re: ExErCiSe
Oh a pedometer, I sooo need one of those, I would love to know how much exercise i get. My building is 2 story but apparently eqivilent to a 3 story and the amount of times I run those stairs each day, well that would be interesting, Maybe thats why I'm only small. Pat, you made me giggle, any exercise is good, but tiredness is not, so get to bed, off you go, and sleep my friend.

Re: ExErCiSe
Exercise has definatly helped me... i have taken up boxing and weight lifting and have found it puts me in a good state of mind. Boxing is especially good for sorting out any anger issues. I have lost about 15kg too which is a bonus.
Everyone should go for a walk in the local park and appreciate nature.. im lucky to have an estuary just down the road so get to see a range of native birds.. If you have trouble with leaving the house just chuck on a Hoody and some glasses.. It really does help

Bah Humbug.
I know whats meant, but as a bloke with a bit of a sore back and a pair of legs and feet that don't respond to all 'helm orders' with the alacrity one might otherwise expect, I get warm under the collar (is that exercise?) when someone says something like "Everyone should go for a walk ..."
Can we maybe agree on something that does not discriminate against folk who have difficulty walking, for whatever medical reasons?
Can we say summat like;
'As and when they feel able to, folk should make an effort to experience life beyond their front gate, including appropriate exercise in its many varied forms; but that the most important thing is, to simply to 'be and see' somewhere and something different and to get fresh air and stuff before the buggers tax us for it.'
See, thats inclusive.
I couldnt walk as far as my door to the letterbox and back, not even on two elbow crutches, today.
So I went out in the rain on my mobility scooter. 'Cos I could. There was hardly anyone about, not even schoolkids and I saw gardens and cats and old buildings and vehicles and I got really wet and it was fun, 'cos normally I'm careful to stay dry and warm. Another day, I might need a mobility taxi to get anywhere - but the important thing is I reckon, to give it a go and just see what one can manage on the day.
Pat.

Ok paddy2
You do have a point... (yes sorta saying you were right and we all know how many times I say that to anyone - stubborn old coot I am!)
I think the message BungI was trying to get across was for people to get fresh air when they can and appreciate all the things nature has to offer.
But of course because this is in the exercise thread, she made the assumption we would walk, or could get around.
And you are right too (yes that is twice in one thread - cherish it haha) the important thing is to give it a go and just see what one can manage on the day.
After all it is the simple things that can make us the most happiest can it not?
And nature can be very simple at times, and beautiful

Re: ExErCiSe
It was a nice sunny day today so walked into a meeting. I dusted off my pedometer. I did 7400 steps which equals about 4km. This walk included a lot of up hill. Gee I am unfit.

Re: ExErCiSe
well you are fitter than I! The only things that regularly get exercise where i am concerned is my jaw and my fingers!!

Re: ExErCiSe
In that case it may be time to take a walk at lunchtime instead of jumping online now that the weather is so much better.

Re: ExErCiSe
I was always taught when younger (may well be the reason i only ever missed 2 days of school!) that like the advert on telly for bad tummy bacteria and good tummy bacteria - that bad things in body were like little green dots and good healthy ones were like big round red rolling balls - so i imagined squishing all the green dots with my big round red balls!!! (I KNOW SOUNDS DODGY but believe me it works)
