citalopram coming off of them
I would like to hear from anyone who has come off Citalopram.
How long did it take?
How did you do it?
I have spoken about this with my doctor.
Thanks
Susan

Re: citalopram coming off of them
Hi Susan,
I'm pretty sure everyone reacts differently. I was on a low dose (20mg) which i felt hadn't done anything to help anyway... I simply changed to every other day for a week and then stopped altogether. I didn't really notice any changes, except perpaps a little more emotional (responding to sad things on TV for example) for a few days.

I am on 20mg too. Doc says 1 every other day for a week then 10mg every other day for a week.

Re: citalopram coming off of them
Yep, gradually seems to be the recommended solution

Sounds like you're onto it. Gentle care, eh.
Paddy.

Was on 40mg, dropped to 20mg for a week then stopped for a week before switching to a new med.

Going on to half dose every other day this week feeling a little edgy but not too bad I want to stick at it.

Re: citalopram coming off of them
I went from a whole tablet, to half every day for about a month (until I felt I could drop it again), then to half every other day.
I've been off for about a month now, and feeling really good, although am finding sleeping hard as the citraloprams used to help me sleep at night, and I get terrible restless legs when I am just about asleep. Has anyone else experienced this? I also get a foggy feeling in my head occasionally.
Good for you Susan, its not a race, just take your time and reduce down when you feel up to it
