I seem to have gotten myself into a rut over the past year but im pretty sure i can get out of it without any professional help despite the comments of many people such as my GP nd lecturers. Lately however I have been having really strong suicidal idealation, I know its normal to have feelings like this sometimes, but when you wake up every morning hoping to find the guts to actually carry out the plan is a little scarey. Have been trying to find the guts for the past 2 weeks but every single day i chicken out. I know I probrably sound crazy, and if anyone was in my shoes I would encourage themn to seek help, but its different when its yourself kinda. I just feel like im losing my battle ad that I could actually follow through in the near future, please no one take this the wrong way, Im pretty sure Im all talk, its just hard feeling like this all the time. Vent over confused

Understood. hold on to the moments in between the bad stuff... and try, when you wake up to think of a good thing you are going to do for yourself that morning. (You can post them here too so we can live vicariously through your good stuff.!)

Ros told me yesterday that that was what I was doing. Idealation is not a word I knew before yesterday.

I hope the weekend is good to you.

big hugs from Wellington

Actually 'normal' people don't ever think about suicide. It seems normal to us because we think about it a lot.

I'd recommend getting help if things are that bad. I wish I had gotten help sooner. I've wasted so much time just doing nothing hoping things will get better. I've learnt to manage my depression when it's quite mild, but when things get bad there's not much I can do without help.

I'm not sure if your depression is caused by external factors or if it just happens for no reason. I'm in the latter category. If it is external factors, maybe you could go and see a councillor, they should be free if you are still at uni.

You clearly have the insight to know that these dark thoughts of suicide are not helpful to you.

Please find it in yourself to get the help where you can discuss your suicidal ideation before you actually act on impulse.

You have the choice, choose the good thought rather than the crap one.

Please.
