“The latest initiative from the Ministry of Health - a self-help programme featuring John Kirwan - is proving a success at helping depression sufferers.
The Journal, a six-week online self-help programme featuring former All Black and depression campaigner Kirwan as a personal coach, was launched in June as part of the ministry's national depression initiative (NDI).
Figures released by the ministry today show that of the 4485 people who had signed up to the programme, 70 had completed the entire course and 660 were halfway through.
The figures also show the reported severity of participants' depression had improved for 83 percent of participants, based on self-assessment scores prior to, during and after completing the programme.
The ministry said that while it was still early days, The Journal was proving to be a successful initiative that was reaching out to and engaging with the public.
The NDI began with the popular television advertisements featuring a variety of kiwi celebrities, including Kirwan, relating their attempts to cope with depression in their own lives.”
End.

4485 - 70 completed - 660 halfway = 3755 gave up.
The program is considered a success when 84% of participants gave up? Sure, it's better than nothing, but I'm not sure I'd call that a success.

Has anyone from TBBD completed this program? It looks interesting to me but unfortunately I lack the motivation to do it.

I lacked the motivation too and gave up.
At least I was in the 84% majority...

I just started it last week. Don't want to do part two though because it involves cooking their specific recipes. I already have changed what I'm eating to improve my mental and physical health and am a bit of a control freak, so eating their exact recipes put me off.

The food looks good and I make bolognese quite a bit, but I don't want to follow the recipes exactly as they include things I don't buy and I am also doing Weight Watchers, so I really don't want to do the food one.
There are 4 categories - beef, seafood, vegetarian and chicken and you have to choose 2 recipes as a task and then make them. There are 3 recipes in each of the categories.

I hope you're right! I picked 2 dishes to cook, but won't do it. One thing I am doing well at is cooking proper meals practically every night for the kids (very occasionally, like once a fortnight? they have spaghetti on toast), so I thought I'd skip this one - it wouldn't let me, so I have to schedule it in before I can do the next task. Better than giving up just because I hit a speed bump I guess

Sorry, I'm flagging the recipes and making a pork curry or casserole instead - just have to decide which one
