How do you tell that inner voice to stop with the nasty talk?

I've used.. " thanks for sharing , now bugger off" ... " Ok thats just your opinion but I w/dont agree " and " shutup shut up shut up... go away you b@@#$rd voice"

Still looking for one that works !.. what do you tell your inner voice?

I don't know if this will be helpful, mostly because I can't really tell at the moment if it is helping me or not. However. I have a friend who also suffers from her inner voice beating the crap out of her. The thing that we say to one another at those times is "my brain is trying to kill me". It seperates the brain (boo hiss) from the real me (yay) and lets the thoughts be ignored.

However, as I say, I don't know if that advice is good advice. Maybe being ok means learning to assimilate that voice, turning it into a force for good. Like how we try to have compassion in life for those that piss us off, we can try to have compassion for that part of ourselves that is so goddam bloody mean all the time.

I dunno. I'd like to try to get to that place. In the meantime, yeah, "shutup shutup shutthef&*k up" and "I'm not listening to you, you bastard" are kind of what I'm using.

wowinnz - maybe think of some of the things you have done really well or are proud of and when that negative self talk starts say: well actually - I kicked as* at this, or when I did ...... it was a huge success. Or my friends love (insert quality here) this about me.
I dont know, but one of the things my friends love about me is that im a bit weird so I use that!

Well that made me think... off the top of my head I couldn't think of anything i had done really well or that was a success.. will have to think hard on that one so I am prepared next time! lol!

I didn't really start this thread becuase I need help with what to think, just so that I could see what the rest of you do in this circumstance.

so if anyone else has a magic phrase that helps lift you up do tell... Rolling Eyes

and have a fabulous day everyone. flower

I really wish that "la la la la la la la la la" worked. It works on other people, why shouldn't it work on me! Smile

Anita here's what works for me
sometimes

Tina Turner right, put on yer highest shoes, get the hairbrush and stand on the table singing Your Simply The Best.

Try and get the moves right as well. You can only feel better.
