I am so very very sad
My big black dog JJ has been taken away as she was caught killing lambs. I love her to bits but there is no way I can have a dog that kills living in the country and there is no way I can fence off an area big enough to contain her in a fair and humane way. My other dog doesn't chase or kill and nor did the two old dogs who lived to 15 and 16 respectively and are buried in the garden ever chase or kill. No more puppies for me. If I do get any other dogs they will be fully matured so their nature is already known. I feel like their is a huge heavy weight inside of me as I have only ever lost an animal to death from old age or illness in the past and certainly not had any removed for any other reason. I feel as if I have lost a child as I love that dog so much I hope she gets rehomed with a family who love her and can keep her contained, preferably in the city as she is the most loving, affectionate animal with people. Well that is my vent for the day. The ladies from the pound are keeping me in touch with what happens to JJ and I am hoping for good news.

Judy,
I don't know what to say that can possibly help you with this loss except that I too have me fingers crossed for a good rehoming and TBT sends you a very special Purr.
Sorry I'm so useless hon. I've been in a similar situation and yep, it sucks.
Paddy.

Re: I am so very very sad
I just got a call from the pound. They have talked to the farmer who owns the lambs and he has agreed not to press charges and has also agreed to JJ being rehoused and not put down if she passes a temperament test. I know she will pass as she is has a loving and affectionate nature with people so fingers crossed that someone wants to adopt her.

Re: I am so very very sad
Oh dear God Bluebird
As mum to three dogs I can only imagine how ghastly you must feel.
But pet, your girly will be safer with someone else to protect her from what she sees as fun hunting. And you would be continually worried about what would happen next. If she did it again she wouldn't be getting this chance.
My love and hugs to you and girly and I am certain she will find a nice new family with kids to play with.

Re: I am so very very sad
I hope so Martine and thanks for caring. I love all my animals to bits and when I take an animal on it is a home for life. I have only ever lost animals to a natural death before now, and although that is also devastating, it is a natural part of life. No more puppies for me only mature dogs that need loving if they come my way and then I will know their nature already and if they belong in the country or not.

Re: I am so very very sad
Hi BB I'm so sorry about what has happened with JJ. I know that you love your animals very much and are a responsible pet owner so this situation must be very stressful and upsetting for you. It must be a relief that the farmer didn't press charges and has agreed to allowing JJ to be rehoused if she passes a temperament test. This at least is one good thing. As you have described her as a loving and affectionate dog, I'm sure she will be attractive to many people who want to adopt. Judy I'm thinking of you and hoping things get easier as I'm sure you are finding life difficult at the moment. Love and hugs to you my friend, Becks.

Re: I am so very very sad
Thanks Becks. Today has been bad day, worse than yesterday in a way as I don't think it had really sunk in yesterday that I would never see my baby again. When I came home from grocery shopping today it just hit me - there was no annoying dog jumping up to welcome me home, there was only one small dog bowl to fill, the other is staying empty as there is no big, exhuberant dog to eat out of it. I know it sounds really awful but, although I care for Kovu (my corgi) he has never touched my heart anywhere near as closely as JJ did. I so hope she finds a loving home where she is loved and out of harms way.

Re: I am so very very sad
Aww bluebird I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. If I had to do the same with Baxter I would be devistated, but coming from a farming backround I know what its like. If we had a hunterway pup left I'd offer it to you, I know what all our hunterways are like.
I'm sure that JJ will find a great home somewhere that will suit him, and maybe you might be able to keep in touch. Its amazing how much our animals mean to us, they are our family and friends. Sending you many hugs through this tough time xXx

Thanks Haley, I miss her so much and really feel I have let her down so badly by not keeping her safe. After all she was just doing what came natural as she is not a mean dog by nature.

Bluebird, I have a beautiful wee pooch and love animals also. I am so sad to hear you are grieving for JJ. Knowing that she may be rehoused, is a blessing. Please be kind to you.

Thanks Freedom. Unfortunately JJ is now frolicking in doggy heaven. All I can say is that, even though her life was brief, it was happy and she was much loved.

Re: I am so very very sad
For you Bluebird ......
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together ........ Daze

Thanks for that Daze, it made me have a good cry. I am so looking forward to seeing both Jet, and Jet Junior (JJ) again one day and cross the bridge with them. I love them both so very much.

Re: I am so very very sad
Dear Bluebird I am so sorry for your loss, at least now you know she is safe and happy in Heaven, you know the end of her. After the recent spate of doggy attacks on little girls, when I go out with my 3 (ones) a staffy, called Oliver, people shriek and hide their kids behind them and scoop up their little fluffy dogs as if he were a marauding shark on legs.
He is a delight and intelligent and sensitive and loves kids and doesn't understand when people turn away from him or yell at him to get away this is even in the dog park.
I feel for you tonight and will say a Hail Mary for our blessed mother to look after your girly in Heaven. Love to you Martine

Re: I am so very very sad
Thanks Martine, I still miss her very much but I am convinced that she is in doggy heaven as she was a loving and gentle dog with people. It must be hard on your dog when people are unkind to her, it is so unfair that a few dogs spoil it for the majority. That is a bit like people too I think.

Re: I am so very very sad
Dear Bluebird
Just today I took my obese aussie terrier to the vet in despair asking why she was so very fat. She gets exercised daily with the other two eats properly (a few little treats no more) and he told me she has cancer, its not fat, its lipomas all over her.
My beautiful chocolate eyed girl. I know how you feel, totally powerless.
