Woohoo for Op Shops!
Ours had been closed nearly a month (a long time, when it’s the only Op Shop in town)
I got me some music, for $2.50. I have eclectic music tastes, just as with books.
Today I got:
The Essential George Gershwin (a double cd)
Slit Enz (a tape)
Chopin Sonatas (a cd)
Bob Dylan (a tape)
The Songs of Irving Berlin by Al Jolson, Judy Garland, Lois Armstrong et al (a cd)
Joan Armatrading ( a tape – cool memories of my Late big sister Judy – luv ya, from Skin), and
Vivaldi The Four Seasons 12 Concertos (a double cd).
Not bad for $2.50, eh. I offered $3.00 and was too embarrassed to take the change; I reckon I got a fair three bucks worth today by anyone’s standards. Woohoo.
It’s interesting, inviting music back into my day. And old tapes are so cheap, feck. This is going to be fun. Woohoo. OMD, ELO, Kate Bush, Super Tramp, Blondie – lookout tapes, ya coming to my place in the months to come ‘cos I’m tired of living in the sound of silence. (no offence meant BZ and others with hearing probs)
Ha, I might just have once possibly, potentially, allegedly, arguably, (in others opinions, not mine, I hasten to add) got a bit ‘obsessive’ with my collection of ‘vinyl’ music. I thought I just liked records, sigh. Divorce cured that one. Tapes, eh? Easy to organise, I bet. Excellent. This is going to be fun. Woohoo. And if TBT don’t like me tapes, she can divorce me too. Didn’t argue then, won’t argue now, TBT.
So many tapes, so few fifty cent bits, pffft. I'm not into iPods or music on the computer (I don't 'understand it so I don't use it). I just like being 'in' a music space again. Its been years.
What good music finds have you guys had?
Any recommendations for good Op Shops which are 'Must Stop At's' in different towns?
