Flatting etc vs. Living on Ya Ownsome. Empty Flatting etc vs. Living on Ya Ownsome.

I was idly thinking about some of those us who for various reasons, live or exist or whatever ya wanna call it, on our ownsome year in and year out.

Given that for some us it is important where we live, for family or other reasons, there must still be a few of us ‘gypsy’ types who like me, are where they are, cos well, that’s where we've ended up. And essentially, alone.

A bloke I know (I’ll call him Yddap cos I know how to spell that) has an eye on an old, not overly flash villa in the Rangitikei;

The villa has four bedrooms but Yddap was thinking more of himself (as he always does, selfish bastard that he is) and two other people. One of whom must know how to make savoury mince on toast, and be willing to share the secret. Leaving us say the option of a small sunroom and two lounges to share, not just one and one of which can be used for accommodating friends or family etc if ya have visitors. Only one bathroom, but.

Say there was about half an acre which ain’t well fenced, (yet) and ya get the feeling that just about any sorta ‘pet’ would fit in; would that make things more enticing? Those folk thinking that 'cos they don’t have a car they may feel stranded in nowhere in particular may take heart from the knowledge that Yddap has a car. And loves going for drives.

Say the property looked something very much like the one at http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-me-property/Residential-property/Houses-for-sale/auction-261053725.htm - I said it ain’t flash. Or maybe something not too dissimilar, somewhere else? Dunno.

Would anyone be interested in flatting in a place like that on a long term thingy?

And if the answer is maybe or whatever, as a matter of interest and assuming I’d get the crappiest bedroom, what would be a reasonable per person ‘rent’ for the two bedrooms? – I guess including power, Broadband, landline, but not ya food etc.

Yep, I know it needs spouting and down pipes etc but most is of utilitarian, usable condition. Well, I’ve lived in worsera, anyway. I mean, Yddap has. Ya could even paint ya own room, how’s that? I bags doing the dishes every day, but.

I’m just mildly interested as an option to the next 30 or so years in me tiny pensioner flat – arrrgh. - as I say – no commitments from anyone, me included. Just kinda thinking out loud.

I don’t think that either age or gender are very relevant in this question – it would be more ‘can we adapt to having others around etc’ – that’s why I ain’t flatting anywhere without two lounges – it would take me months to get used to soap operas and tvs on just ‘cos they’re broadcasting etc. See, I didn’t say it would be easy, just a thought, pffft. Oh, and Yddap smokes, naughty man. And whines lots about being sore, poor didd scratch ums. He wouldn’t know sore if it bit his bum – not like I know sore, anyway. Anyone wanna flat with a snively whimp like Yddap? I don’t. scratch
