What a great start to my holiday

Well sure didn't expect to sit in a cop car for an hour waiting for parents, didn't expect to sit up at the hospital till 11:30pm and get checked out and sure didn't expect to be shocked and sore. What happened?? A wee bit of a crash.

One of my cars rear tyres blew, car hit loose gravel, veered over to left, I put foot on brakes and gently turned wheel so didn't hit fence, car served over to opposite side of road, spun round and rear ended a power pole jamming itself up there. All in a 100k zone, bout 20 mins from arriving at my parents place. Cops aren't charging me.

Am just so bloody lucky, it could have been so much worse, there could have been cars coming in the other direction, the car could have front ended the pole, the pole could have fallen onto the car. Bit sore in my neck, shoulder and stomach were the seat belt sits, and bit sore down one side of my back. Luckily seat belt kicked in and jammed itself so I didn't go forward too far. Bugger all damage to car as well, dad's gonna replace the two back tyres (other one is wearing thin too) and the bumper has a bit of a dent in it which dad says him and other guy at work should be able to knock out and fix it. They towed car out of ditch last night with cop still there keeping eye on traffic, car still goes fine.

Cop said that very few people and there cars come out pretty much unharmed after running into a concrete power pole, no damage to pole either.

that must have been terrifying!!!!!...I am so glad that you are alright!!!!!!...man the 'what ifs' are just to yuck to contemplate!!!!!!

I had a tyre blow out on me years ago...but it was on a quiet country road with a very wide grass verge...no fences or poles or ditches...so I was lucky but I still haven't forgotten the instant of panic when the tyre blew and the car started skidding

and for such little damage all around...someone must have been sitting on your shoulder last night.

Was really terrifying, yes mum thinks someone was sitting on my shoulder too. So many things could have happened. When the car was skidding all I could think was that there was no way I was gonna come out alive.

I was meant to leave earlier during the day, but I wanted to get my hair cut by my hair dresser and only appointment they had was at 1:30pm. Then called in at TA to see a friend after her op, so was around 5pm before I got on my way, maybe if I hadn't done those things it wouldn't have happened.

or maybe if you hadn't done those things there would have been traffic with you!!!

I will stick to the notion that someone was watching out for you yesterday...and encouraged you to make those decisions that slowed your travel plans.

Hey, this 'being alive' shit we do and sometimes complain about - there are times when its quite a relief to realise you still are, aye.

Thanks guys, yes I am really lucky, basically been given a second chance in life. I never thought I would come out of it alive. Quite sore at the moment, have taken some stuff, dad gonna take me up to supermarket after dinner so can get some nurofen.

Haven't gotten Lotto ticket yet, but will do, am gonna look at getting a Big Wednesday one as well.

After having a shock like this, is it normal to get tired really quickly in the days following??

And this is the remaining damage that is left after Dad has fixed it, in the first pic there was a big dent down the whole thing, now all that is left is a few cracks in the paint which you can see if you look closely. The masking tape comes off tomorrow as well, it's just there to hold it on until the glue dries.

You owe your Angels a packet of choccie biscuits I think, looking at the photo's and reading your description of the accident, LC.
