Not quite an literal translation, but it is a taniwha of the Rangitikei River.

Its a river that fascinates me and one which as my mobility continues to deteriorate, is increasingly inaccessable to me. Such is life, so I have a piece of it on my wall.

When I close my eyes, I can see the spot at the river where I found my driftwood taniwha, and where I noticed the 'waka' (which is an 'as found' piece of tree bark with moss). I can remember the fear I felt collecting the feathers (I have a bird phobia but they were reluctantly donated by two hens called DaVine and Egburt, an annoying, unnamed rooster and a pair of Tui); and I can even recall the place I found the broken bone carving.

So, I guess its not art at all. Embarassed

Its just a collection of memories arranged on canvas. Bugger. Razz

Of course it's art paddy, and it makes it more special because each individual piece means something to you.
